Train to Pakistan

 

All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) hosted a fashion show /fundraiser for the flood victims of Pakistan.

On April 16th 2011 All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) hosted a fashion show /fundraiser for the flood victims of Pakistan. The event was held at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in Dallas, Texas. The organizers of the event were Fouzia Hasan, Amna Javeri-Zaidi, Anadil Afridi, Tania Hussain, Wafa Raza, Zara Tareen, Nadia Bashir and Nadia Zahid. Mrs. Ayesha Javeri flew in from APWA HQ in Karachi to talk about the work APWA has done through the years. Mrs. Iffat Gardezi Pakistan Minister of Mission was the chief guest .It was a beautiful outdoor event with the vintage trains as a backdrop to the fashion show. Waiters dressed in red turbans with white kurtis and black waistcoats walked around serving hot samosas and channa jor garam. The models walked through the trains onto a ramp and displayed the magnificent clothes all donated by Pakistan’s top designers in an effort to raise money for the IDP’s of the 2010 flood .the entire event was covered by TV One. Mrs Rizwana Khan from Zara Salon in Karachi flew in to do the hair and make up. It was an evening of elegance, haute couture and the colors of Pakistan’s railroads. All proceeds went directly to aid the Flood victims.

The members of the audience felt that they had never attended such a beautiful and Pakistani style of evening in America.
